Bubble is way near the back - we don't know how the rentals knew which vehicle to return to.

Other highlights on the South Island:

Kaikoura -We camped on the beach at Peketah paying extra for a beachside site only to be sand blasted by sand from the beach when a storm came through.

Christchurch - Lime scooter, tourist tram

Trans Alpine train trip to Greymouth - this was a fabulous way to celebrate my big birthday. View over the lake from the train:

Akaroa - Jet boat ride - Robyn loved it, I just didn't really like it. In fact I would like to have stopped the boat to get off.

Lake Pukaki - Mount Cook:

Mt Cook

Aeretoa - Stonehenge - a replica built out of concrete.

Oamaru - Steampunk HQ - a Strange Steelworks Art Gallery

Alexandra where we had the best Mexican meal ever.

Pleasant Point- Model T Ford Train which we went for a ride on:

Queenstown - A quick trip of literally 15 minutes as there was not a lot of parking and it was crowded. We spent more time in nearby historic Arrowtown.

Te Anua - boat and bus trip through Doubtful Sound. This trip was a real highlight where we saw platypus, dolphins and beautiful scenery. Also got to go out into the Tasman Sea because the water was so calm.

Gore
It was great to meet up with friends we had first met in Europe, and they showed us all around their home town of Gore. We also camped at Dolamore Park near Gore and loved it.

We went on a walk up the mountain at Dolamore Park, look how excited Robyn is:

Dunedin - Park Run - noted as being the park run with the steepest route and I can vouch for that (ouch).
We went on the Taieri Gorge train journey: View from the train viewing carraige (nice looking photographer in the foreground).

Bluff - oysters good? see Robyn for this
Back up to Ashburton, sell Bubble (tears) and back to Australia after four great months of travel.
My favourite saying while in NZ - "I don't think I like the look of that", in reference to the mountains and hills and mountains and mountains. It was very nice to get to the Plains. Summary - beautiful country but not good if you suffer a bit of vertigo.

See you on the south Island
